Digital X-Ray

Main Content

A combination of a Panoramic X-ray and Bitewing X-rays are commonly taken during a patient's first visit to Poulson Family Dental located in Brighton, CO. Bitewing X-rays are used during checkups to look for tooth decay, gum disease or other issues. Panoramic X-rays are used to check for bone diseases, wisdom teeth, tooth infections or abscesses and growth development. Dental X-rays are scheduled when you need them based on your age, risk for disease, and signs of disease.

Pictures of the teeth, bones, and soft tissues will help Dr. Poulson find problems with the teeth, mouth, and jaw. The advantages of digital X-rays include time efficiency, enhanced images, less radiation and can be used to produce an image of similar contrast to the conventional radiograph.

Instead of X-ray film, digital radiography uses a digital image capture device. This allows Dr. Poulson and you to immediately preview the image on a computer monitor. Costly film processing and under-exposure are eliminated. With digital X-rays, dentists also have the ability to apply special image processing techniques that enhance overall display of the image.

Digital radiography allows practices the ability to store patient images on a computer. Images can then be viewed in full screen, enhanced and zoomed in on. Digital X-rays provide better diagnostics and easier patient communication.  Dr. Poulson and his team will display the X-rays on the computer monitor in your room while discussing any findings so you have the chance to see what we see.
